The Turing Ride 2021
In aid of Sherborne Voluntary Ambulance
Sunday 19th Sept 2021
In honour of Alan Turing’s 1926 ride to Sherborne, the Sherborne Voluntary Ambulance committee, in conjunction with Sherborne School, is providing the opportunity to take on one of two road bike cycle challenges, the `Enigma’ (33 miles) and ‘Ultra’ (63 miles). As Turing would have done, riders will pass through pretty Dorset villages, surmount lung-busting climbs and enjoy the exhilarating descents. There will be a feed station at the half-way point on each ride, with some limited mechanical support if required. We hope to attract local cyclists, together with boys, girls, staff and parents from local schools, all helping to support a very good local cause.
Road bike Sportive with two distance options:
Ultra - 63 miles climbing 5,111 ft climb
Enigma - 33 miles climbing 2,212 ft climb
Start location: The Courts, Sherborne School, DT9 3LF
Start time – 11:30 (hour later than originally advertised due to deconfliction with Weymouth Ironman cycle route)
Refreshments will be provided as follows:
- Feed station at halfway point on both routes.
- Prior to ride in School Café - 'The Hub' (not free of charge)
- At end of ride in School Café - 'The Hub' (free refreshments for riders with voucher provided when booked in from ride).
